Statistical data released today by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) showed that as of the end of the second quarter of 2026, the total number of stored value facility (SVF) accounts reached 90.38 million, an increase of 1.8% from the previous quarter. The total number of SVF transactions in the second quarter was approximately 2.2 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 0.3%; the total transaction value was HKD 264.7 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 0.1%. Of this, point-of-sale consumption payments accounted for HKD 47.7 billion, online consumption payments for HKD 33.8 billion, P2P fund transfers for HKD 16.4 billion, withdrawals for HKD 59.6 billion, and top-ups for HKD 107.2 billion. The total deposits and float in SVF accounts amounted to HKD 21.8 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 0.6%. Compared to the end of the second quarter of 2025, the total number of SVF accounts increased by 9.2% year-on-year, and the total deposits and float increased by 7.3% year-on-year.
