Fed Governor Barr: AI Boom, Tariffs, and Energy Prices Fueling Inflation; Further Policy Adjustments Likely Needed
Federal Reserve Governor Michael Barr stated that the AI boom and price pressures related to tariffs and energy have contributed to “upward price pressures.” He added that given rising inflation risks and receding labor market risks, the Fed “was out of position, and we made an adjustment in the right direction.” Barr believes that “in my base case, further policy adjustments are likely to be needed to ensure inflation comes down to target in a timely fashion.”
