Musk Discloses xAI's Hashrate Expansion Plan: Colossus 2 Cluster's NVIDIA Chips May Double to 1.21 Million by Year-End
Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI, is accelerating its expansion of AI computing power. On September 25, he stated on the social platform X that its AI computing cluster, Colossus 2, has currently deployed 550,000 NVIDIA GB200 and GB300 chips. According to the expansion plan, an additional 220,000 GB300 chips are expected to be operational next week, with another 220,000 coming online in November, and potentially an additional 220,000 by the end of December. If progress is smooth, the total number of chips in Colossus 2 will reach approximately 1.21 million by year-end, an increase of about 120% from the current 550,000.
