According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the Henry Hub natural gas spot price averaged $2.93 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) from June to August this year, a 6% decrease from the same period last year. Prices declined despite unusually hot summer weather, which increased electricity demand for air conditioning, and natural gas-fired power plants typically help meet higher demand during this period.
