Elon Musk retweeted Sawyer Merritt's post, in which SpaceX announced new information about its AI training cluster site in Tennessee/Mississippi. Newly disclosed details include: Tesla Megapacks will provide 3.3 GWh of power for Colossus 2, enough to power Memphis for two hours, making it the largest grid-connected battery pack in the US. SpaceX has invested millions of dollars in soundproofing walls, mufflers, and advanced silent turbines. Since joining the local community in 2024, SpaceXAI has invested over $90 billion in the region, with projected tax revenues exceeding $60 million in 2026 and supporting 7,500 local jobs. Additionally, SpaceXAI is investing $360 million to build a clean water recycling plant for the city of Memphis, capable of processing up to 10 million gallons of wastewater daily and reducing water drawn from the Memphis aquifer by approximately 3.64 billion gallons annually. In Memphis, SpaceXAI is also investing $35 million to build a 150 MW substation and $20 million for a second substation, both at no cost to Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) or residents. According to an agreement with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, all remaining temporary turbines must be removed by July 2027, and SpaceXAI expects to complete the removal ahead of schedule.
