Crusoe has abandoned its $1.25 billion partnership with Boom Supersonic, which was originally planned to power its AI data centers using Boom's turbines.

Boom Supersonic CEO Blake Scholl confirmed on X that Crusoe is no longer including Boom's turbines in its immediate primary power mix. Crusoe was the first customer for Boom's stationary power plant business, with plans to spend $1.25 billion to purchase 29 42-megawatt Superpower turbines, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. Crusoe stated that as its AI data center business expands, the company will maintain flexibility in choosing energy solutions suitable for each site.

Boom Supersonic stated that despite losing Crusoe as a launch partner, it plans to deliver approximately 250 megawatts of Superpower turbines to other customers next year, with a target of reaching 1 gigawatt by 2028.
