JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon stated during his visit to Hong Kong last week that geopolitics is his biggest concern, and economic growth is the best antidote to resolve the US-China conflict and other thorny global issues. He emphasized that countries should consider how to maximize growth, as growth benefits all citizens by creating more jobs and higher wages. Dimon also noted that current market conditions differ from the 2008 crisis, with banks, US corporations, and consumers not being overleveraged, but soaring sovereign debt is a major concern. US sovereign debt surpassed $40 trillion last month, and the 10-year US Treasury yield rose to 5.234% on Monday, a new high in over two decades. Dimon believes that markets are not always right, and investors should be prepared. On the eve of the US-China presidential meeting, Dimon attended the state dinner at the White House to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping. Previously, JPMorgan Chase's New York headquarters also hosted US-China trade negotiations, where both sides agreed to extend the trade truce by two months to January 10, 2027, and discussed artificial intelligence for the first time.
