China's Hengrui Pharmaceuticals announced it has licensed its self-developed oral GLP-1/GIP dual receptor agonist, HRS-1596, to Novo Nordisk, a global leader in weight-loss drugs, for all global markets outside Greater China. The deal includes an upfront payment of $300 million, plus up to $2.3 billion in development, regulatory, and commercialization milestone payments, potentially totaling up to $2.6 billion. Hengrui Pharmaceuticals' stock price rose over 3% after the news was announced. The agreement is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, with Hengrui Pharmaceuticals retaining all rights to HRS-1596 in the Greater China region.
