OpenAI announced the launch of Dots, a new personal agent assistant powered by GPT-6 Astra, at its developer conference on Tuesday. Dots is designed to operate independently of specific hardware or interfaces, continuously executing user-defined goals in the background with minimal human oversight. Dots will be available to Pro and Business Premium users in ChatGPT starting Tuesday, and users can launch Dots via Codex or ChatGPT. OpenAI envisions Dots being used to monitor customer feedback, implement bug fixes, or rerun analyses and investigate unexpected results when experimental data becomes available. OpenAI also plans to introduce "Professional Dots" and is working with Microsoft to integrate them into Agent 365 security controls.
