Anish Acharya, a partner at the renowned venture capital firm a16z, and David Pawlan, founder of Assistant Benchmark, noted in a podcast on September 29 that the personal AI agent sector has rapidly heated up in recent weeks, with over 120 participants currently. David Pawlan believes that mainstream consumers are not concerned with a 10% increase in efficiency; what truly attracts them is "free money," such as automatically claiming refunds for flight price drops through agents or optimizing household water bills (some users have seen their water bills decrease by 50% as a result). He emphasized that when AI agents begin to replace human interaction, the traffic logic of platforms like Amazon and Shopify, and even the entire e-commerce ecosystem, will be forced to reshape. Furthermore, the high computing costs of AI agents are a reality facing the market, estimated at about $20 per user per day. This compels startups to focus on creating extremely high-value, ultra-vertical software for a very small group of users.
