Musk: SpaceX and Tesla aim for 200 GW annual solar production, urges US to scale power against China
Elon Musk, in a retweeted post, stated that SpaceX and Tesla are targeting 200 gigawatts of solar production per year, with plans to take it to space where sunlight is constant and more efficient than ground-based solar. He emphasized the U.S. needs to dramatically scale its power production to compete with China, which he estimates has about three times America's electricity output. Musk also predicted that every 1% increase in U.S. power usage would correspond to roughly a 1% increase in GDP, attributing this to increasing "intelligence per watt."
