OpenAI is reviewing reports of an attempted hack targeting Canadian government agencies.
OpenAI confirmed it is reviewing a report about an attempted hack targeting a Canadian national archives institution. The report, released Wednesday by San Francisco-based nonprofit research lab Transluce, claims to have identified two "preliminary" attempts to attack Library and Archives Canada and the U.S. Department of Education's civil rights data collection agency, but found no evidence of non-public information being accessed. Transluce could not fully confirm the attacks were linked to OpenAI, but the tactics were consistent with activities previously attributed to the creator of ChatGPT. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security said earlier this week there was no indication that government systems had been compromised by AI.
