Open USD stablecoin officially launched, Stripe to support its payment network distribution
The Open USD (OUSD) stablecoin officially launched on September 30 with an initial circulating supply of approximately $468 million, announcing a distribution partnership with payment giant Stripe. Stripe will support OUSD through its payment stack, allowing businesses to hold OUSD via Stripe Treasury, send it via Global Payouts, receive it via Payments, and use it through stablecoin-backed card products. The stablecoin is issued by Open Standard, with reserve assets including cash, U.S. Treasuries, and short-term money market funds. Coinbase will begin supporting the network on October 1, and Mastercard will also provide additional distribution channels through BVNK.
