A senior FAO official claims job loss over criticism of Israel's Gaza policy.
Ben Davis, Director of Rural Transformation and Gender Equality at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), told AFP on Wednesday that he lost his job for criticizing Israel's policies in Gaza. Davis stated that he was informed in July that his contract would not be renewed, citing alleged violations of impartiality rules and accusations of organizing weekly silent protests over the famine situation in Gaza. FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu warned staff in public comments on Tuesday not to "play human rights games," adding that "if anyone plays political games, I will fire them."
