SEC's new custody framework and 9 crypto actions bolster Bitcoin's $113,000 forecast
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed a custody framework on Oct. 1, allowing investment advisers and regulated funds to hold crypto under specific rules. This is the latest of nine agency actions since Aug. 18, spanning most of an asset's life from fundraising to safekeeping. These actions include the SEC's Regulation Crypto Assets proposal, FAQs, a transfer-agent proposal, and the CFTC's Innovation Exemption, no-action position, and updated FAQs. The CFTC also registered Coinbase Clearing LLC for derivatives clearing. Citi raised its 12-month Bitcoin forecast to $113,000 from $82,000, citing ETF inflows and growing adviser and brokerage allocations, with Bitcoin trading near $84,600.
