OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on social media platform X that AI chip manufacturer Cerebras is a "close partner" and that the two companies have a deep collaboration in pushing the frontiers of speed. Following this statement, Cerebras shares rose 6.3% to $177 in pre-market trading on Monday. Previously, Cerebras shares had fallen 20% last week to an all-time low after news emerged that OpenAI would use NVIDIA GPUs to power its GPT-6.1 Sol "hyper-speed" mode, rather than Cerebras chips. Cerebras signed a $10 billion agreement with OpenAI in January to provide 750 megawatts of computing power by 2028. Citi analysts stated that they maintain their revenue expectations for Cerebras from 2026 to 2028 as "unchanged."
