Banks including JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Capital One posted 139,819 AI-related job openings as of October 4, a 49% year-over-year increase, according to an exclusive analysis provided to CNBC by corporate recruiting data firm Draup. Among these, "Agent Orchestration Engineer" roles, which involve designing multiple AI agents to collaborate on tasks, saw a 1,721% surge in mentions, making it one of the most sought-after professions in the financial industry. This trend indicates that Wall Street is accelerating its transition from the chatbot phase to the next stage, where multiple AI agents collaboratively handle large volumes of business, profoundly impacting banks' employee structures, management strategies, and shareholder return expectations. The median base salary for a Generative AI Manager is approximately $190,000, higher than other tech positions in the financial sector.
