Live Nation approved a contract last week that doubles CEO Michael Rapino's target compensation to over $60 million annually, following a Manhattan federal jury's finding that the company and its Ticketmaster subsidiary were liable for illegal monopolistic behavior. Rapino had previously stated his compensation was tied to "solving the DOJ problem," meaning avoiding an antitrust breakup or unfavorable outcome. Despite the jury's finding of Live Nation's monopolistic practices, his compensation target was doubled. Rapino earned $32.6 million in 2025, 291 times the median employee compensation. The new $60 million annual compensation target will take effect in 2027, potentially extending his tenure until 2031. In April, a federal jury found Ticketmaster liable for overcharging fans $1.72 per ticket through monopolistic practices in 21 states and Washington D.C. The Department of Justice has reached a settlement agreement, pending judicial approval, where Live Nation will contribute $280 million for claims in certain states.
