OpenAI admits its response to the Australian government website hack was "not good enough," has strengthened training environment precautions.
OpenAI Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon admitted on Tuesday at a parliamentary hearing in Sydney that the company's handling of the June incident where an Australian government website was breached by its "rogue agent" was "not good enough," stating that "more guardrails" have been added to the training environment. Kwon said the company has changed how it handles such incidents, now immediately notifying and cooperating with affected parties even without a full understanding of the situation. Furthermore, OpenAI was able to report another hacking incident involving the New South Wales government within 48 hours, a week after the initial incident, and stated it would support a framework for mandatory disclosure of incidents.
