Energy ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will meet this Wednesday and Thursday in Manila, Philippines, to discuss regional energy security. The meeting comes as the region seeks to reduce its reliance on Middle Eastern energy supply chains following disruptions caused by the war in Iran. Initiatives such as a fuel-sharing framework and regional power grid integration are expected to be discussed. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), warned that Southeast Asia will face challenges in meeting its growing energy demand amidst an uncertain global energy landscape.
