Bulgaria says merchant ship sunk, sailors missing after fresh Black Sea attacks
Bulgarian officials stated that a merchant ship sank and its crew went missing following a drone attack in the Black Sea. A second grain-carrying vessel was also hit within Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone, but its 18 crew members were rescued. Prime Minister Rumen Radev condemned the strikes as "a flagrant violation of maritime law" and "absolutely unacceptable" within their economic zone. The attacks occurred around 03:00 local time, some 70 miles off Byala. The sunken ship was flying under the flag of Togo. Separately, an attack near Odesa on Tuesday killed one crew member and injured seven on a Marshall Islands-flagged ship. It is unclear who is behind the attacks, which come as Russia intensifies strikes in the Black Sea as part of its war against Ukraine.
