Google launches SynthID website, opening its AI-generated media identification tool to the public.
Google on Tuesday launched the SynthID website, allowing anyone to verify whether images, videos, or audio clips were generated by AI. The tool, previously available for testing to select journalists, media professionals, and researchers, is now open to all users. Google's Nano Banana, Veo, and Lyria models, as well as generative tools like Gemini, use SynthID to watermark generated media. OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Kakao also support SynthID, with Apple soon to join. Google has integrated SynthID verification into the Gemini app and Chrome browser, currently handling 1 million content verification requests daily.
