France Considers Issuing More Shorter-Maturity Debt Amid Bond Selloff, With 10-Year Yield Rising to 4.91%
France is considering issuing more shorter-maturity debt as investors grow increasingly reluctant to hold longer-term French bonds, Finance Minister Roland Lescure told WSJ. France’s 10-year yield rose to 4.91%, versus 3.61% for the 2-year, steepening the curve to roughly 130bp. Lescure said demand for 10-year debt remains solid, but 30-year issuance is “a bit trickier” amid fiscal and political concerns.
