U.S. consumers expect inflation to rise further over the coming year and anticipate their financial situation will worsen, according to the New York Federal Reserve's monthly Survey of Consumer Expectations released on Wednesday. The survey found that more households reported their financial situation was worse than a year ago and expect it to weaken further over the next year. Matt Schulz, chief credit analyst at LendingTree, warned that this means many households anticipate making sacrifices and difficult choices in the coming months.
