In its latest research report published on October 6, Citi pointed out that AI agent workflows exhibit a "multi-magnitude" increase in computational demands compared to traditional chatbots, requiring processing for orchestration, inference loops, data handling, and security components, which makes CPUs the new bottleneck. The bank projects that by 2030, CPUs dedicated to agents will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 247%, accounting for 52% of the entire CPU market.
