South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang has filed a lawsuit in court challenging a 624.7 billion won (approximately $461 million) privacy fine imposed by the Korea Personal Information Protection Commission. According to sources on Thursday, Coupang filed two petitions with the Seoul Administrative Court on Wednesday, requesting that the commission’s penalty decision issued in June be overturned and seeking a stay of the fine pending the court’s ruling. The commission had previously ordered Coupang and one of its affiliates to pay the fine.
