Prominent Bitcoin developer and Casa co-founder Jameson Lopp believes the theoretical threats of artificial intelligence hacking blockchain encryption are greatly exaggerated, and the crypto industry is needlessly giving in to panic. He argues that while theorists worry about a hypothetical breach of encryption foundations, hackers are using AI for more immediate purposes, such as automatically searching for human bugs in application code and wallet firmware. Lopp emphasized, "Worrying about cryptographic breaks is getting ahead of ourselves — we have much more pressing actual issues to deal with." His position is supported by Google Threat Intelligence statistics, which show the monthly number of disclosed software vulnerabilities has nearly doubled over the past year. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin also agreed that premature action can be more dangerous than the threat itself.
