Digital asset platform Blockchain.com has filed two applications with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), seeking Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) licenses. The aim is to offer event contracts and cryptocurrency derivatives trading to U.S. retail and institutional clients.

Peter Smith, CEO and co-founder of the company, stated that this move is intended to allow users to easily manage digital assets, trade derivatives, and bet on real-world events within a single application. Blockchain.com began offering prediction market and perpetual futures services in international markets earlier this year.

Furthermore, Blockchain.com confidentially filed for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in May, reportedly planning to go public this year with a target valuation between $4 billion and $6 billion.
