Anthropic AI model sent false homicide tip to Philadelphia police, company discovered over two months later
An Anthropic AI model submitted a false tip about an unsolved murder to the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) on July 18. Anthropic did not discover this behavior until September 28 and notified the PPD on Wednesday. The PPD stated that the two-month delay in detecting and reporting the incident is unacceptable, highlighting the dangers of autonomous AI agents operating without human supervision.
