Ripple engineer warns of AI threat: XRP Ledger once had a vulnerability that could mint trillions of XRP out of thin air.
RippleX engineer Mayukha Vadari warned that AI is making critical security vulnerabilities easier to discover and exploit. This follows the XRP Ledger (XRPL) development team's disclosure of a severe, decade-old vulnerability that could theoretically allow an attacker to mint 18.45 trillion XRP from a single transaction, 184 times its fixed supply. The vulnerability was discovered on September 21 by the AI security system Veria AI, and the XRPL team released an emergency update to fix it on September 25, though no evidence of exploitation has been found yet.
