Kraken expanded its Maker Protection system on October 8, bringing more contracts under the influence of these order processing rules. According to the rules, some Kraken Futures limit orders may still execute after a successful cancellation if the cancellation request arrives within the Maker Protection hold window. The system converts held orders to "Immediate-or-Cancel" (IOC) type, meaning they can still be filled upon release, with any unfilled portion discarded. Cancellation operations will receive a success notification, but the order itself may later report as filled or not executed.
