TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew stated on Monday at the DBS Asian Insights Conference in Singapore that he expects artificial intelligence to drive significant scientific breakthroughs in fields such as physics, biotechnology, chemistry, and materials science within the next two to three years. He noted that while the short-term impact might be overestimated, the long-term potential remains underestimated. Chew also warned that AI's growing capabilities necessitate stronger safeguards, especially with the broader application of autonomous systems, where cybersecurity risks are immense, and the cost for malicious actors to exploit AI for fraudulent activities will be significantly reduced.
