ACINQ's Eclair Lightning Network node software has merged two fixes aimed at addressing a vulnerability where nodes could lose Bitcoin due to excessively high mining fees during channel funding and splicing. One fix limits peer nodes' fee bump requests when Eclair is funding, while the other checks transactions from a compromised Bitcoin backend (bitcoind) while Eclair retains the signing key. These fixes were merged into the project's main branch on October 2 and October 5, but as of October 12, the latest released version remains v0.14.3 from September. Bitcoin Optech highlighted these changes in its October 9 newsletter, stating they patch protection vulnerabilities in the dual funding and splicing process.
