Hong Kong stocks edge up on Tuesday, mainland blue-chip index hits over one-year low as AI selloff subsides
Hong Kong and mainland stocks recouped earlier losses on Tuesday as a selloff in AI-related shares across Asia subsided, but the blue-chip index across the border still finished at its lowest close in more than a year. The benchmark Hang Seng Index edged up 74 points, or 0.3 percent, to 24,345. On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index inched up 0.1 percent to 3,800, while the blue-chip CSI300 Index closed down 0.3 percent. The CSI AI Index dropped 0.3 percent after touching a six-month low. Economists forecast China's exports rose 25.5 percent year on year in September, accelerating from August's 25 percent growth.
