According to Protos, shareholders of Evernorth Holdings (XRPN) were unaware of a critical inflation bug in the XRP Ledger when they voted on September 30 to approve the company's Nasdaq listing plan. This vulnerability could have allowed hackers to mint trillions of new XRP, thereby breaking the promise of a fixed XRP supply. The bug was reported to Ripple's development division on September 22 and fixed via an emergency patch on September 25, but it was not officially disclosed until October 9, after the merger was completed. Although the vulnerability was not exploited, shareholders made an irreversible decision without this knowledge, and XRPN's core value proposition—the limited supply of XRP—is now called into question.
