China's lithium battery exports surged by 36.4% year-on-year in the first three quarters, with overseas business continuing to expand.
According to data released by the General Administration of Customs on October 14, China's lithium battery exports increased by 36.4% year-on-year in the first three quarters. Specifically, exports to markets other than the United States grew by approximately 53% in the first eight months, offsetting a 24% decline in exports to the U.S. Leading companies such as CATL saw their share of power battery installations in markets outside China rise to 33.7%, while BYD's overseas share also increased to 11%. Chinese battery manufacturers are deepening their overseas expansion by co-building factories with clients and providing local services. For example, Gotion High-tech plans to invest approximately 1.1 billion euros to build a factory with Volkswagen in Spain. In the energy storage market, manufacturers like CATL, EVE Energy, BYD, and Hithium are among the top in overseas cell shipments. Despite varying progress in overseas factory construction, Chinese battery manufacturers are taking on more capital investment and long-term services to secure greater market share.
