Al Jazeera investigation reveals alleged fabrication of viewership for Israeli counter-propaganda videos, raising doubts about the claimed 44 million views.
An Al Jazeera investigation has uncovered discrepancies in the claimed viewership of over 44 million for an Israeli counter-propaganda film aimed at refuting the documentary "NAZA." By examining domain registrations, web archives, source code, and three independent traffic tools, the investigation revealed fabricated figures used by official Israeli entities to promote the film. For instance, the full version of the film on its official YouTube channel had no more than 130,000 views, while the website counter displayed approximately 336 times the actual viewership. Despite clear data manipulation, official accounts such as the Israeli Embassy in Washington and Tzipi Hotovely, head of the National Public Diplomacy Directorate, actively promoted the film, with Hotovely even presenting a certificate of appreciation to its creators.
