Google's "Universal Cart" shopping tool has launched in the US, allowing users to collect and monitor products within Search and the Gemini app.
Google announced on Thursday that its "Universal Cart" shopping tool is now available in the U.S. The tool, first unveiled at the Google I/O conference in May, allows users to collect and monitor products within Google Search and the Gemini app. Users can save desired items to their cart, and their shopping progress will be maintained when they return later. Universal Cart supports collecting items across multiple retailers, acting as a central hub for browsing and tracking potential purchases. The tool can send notifications when item prices drop or out-of-stock items are restocked, and can recommend payment methods and relevant promo codes based on credit card benefits. The checkout functionality is linked to Google's "Universal Commerce Protocol" (UCP), an open standard launched this year to help AI agents collaborate with retailers.
