The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center stated that the threat to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz remains "severe" and warned that further attacks are highly likely given ongoing Iranian military activity. In its latest advisory issued on behalf of the Joint Maritime Information Centre (JMIC), UKMTO noted that on October 11 and 13, there were eight vessel attacks involving unidentified projectiles within the strait, including four oil tankers and four container ships, with the GFS Pride catching fire and sinking on October 14. The report also stated that attacks, attempted attacks, and harassment by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are continuing, including drone overflights, surveillance of merchant vessels, and radio warnings. The center said that commercial traffic remains well below pre-war levels, although with US assistance, an average of about 30 vessels per day have transited in the past 96 hours. UKMTO warned that vessels with identification systems activated face a higher risk of being targeted or ordered to divert to Iranian-controlled routes. Since March 1, 149 maritime security incidents have been reported in the region.
