CoreWeave's three co-founders, Michael Intrator, Brian Venturo, and Brannin McBee, have cumulatively sold $3.3 billion worth of company stock since its IPO in March 2025, with $2.4 billion cashed out in 2026 alone, Bloomberg reported on October 16. Following this news, CoreWeave's stock price plummeted by 15.46% on Wednesday.

The founders' large-scale divestment comes against a backdrop of deteriorating credit risk indicators for the company: CoreWeave's five-year credit default swap (CDS) spread, which measures its five-year credit risk, surged to 1194.5 basis points during the week of October 14, marking an all-time intraday high and implying a greater than 60% probability of debt default within five years. Analysts point out that the founders' significant share sales at a time when the company's credit risk is at a record high have sparked deep market questions about the sustainability of the high-leverage financing model for AI hashrate.
