Poland scrambled its fighter jets on Friday after Russian overnight attacks hit western Ukraine, close to the Polish border. The attacks cut electricity to 370,000 people in Ukraine's Volyn region and caused casualties in Kharkiv and Uman. Later on Friday, Bulgaria's defense minister stated that Sofia has formally requested NATO to deploy combat aircraft and anti-drone systems to bolster its defenses, citing growing concerns over the escalation of the war in Ukraine.
