The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the listing of binary options linked to the key performance indicators (KPIs) of 23 U.S. publicly traded companies. These metrics include trading volume at crypto exchange Coinbase Global (COIN), customer count and revenue at Robinhood Markets (HOOD), and bitcoin production at mining firm MARA Holdings (MARA).

According to a statement dated Oct. 13, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins approved a rule change filed by Cboe Global Markets. The contracts are cash-settled and European-style, exercisable only at expiration, and will settle on figures from companies' SEC filings. Cboe plans to list these contracts this month, with Robinhood expected to be the first brokerage to offer them to retail investors. Trading awaits provisional registration for Cboe Clear U.S., the clearing house.
