Gaza's Ministry of Health stated on Friday that malnutrition and hunger levels in the Gaza Strip have reached "catastrophic" levels. Since 2024, at least 466 Palestinians have died from malnutrition and hunger, with children accounting for one-third and the elderly for 40.5%. The ministry projects that by the end of 2026, 67% of Gaza's population (over 1.4 million people) will face crisis-level food insecurity or worse, and 74,200 children will require treatment for acute malnutrition. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) released a report on the same day, stating that despite the ceasefire last October allowing more humanitarian aid to enter, the hunger crisis in Gaza remains fragile, and warned that the situation could worsen if supplies are disrupted.
