Zcash developer Zakura has proposed a solution to prevent future quantum computers from linking users' private Zcash payments, a risk identified where a single published Zcash address could expose all past payments to that wallet. The proposed fix, announced on Sunday, derives a separate incoming viewing key for each published address, leaving the account's spending key untouched, and crucially, requires no network upgrade. This addresses a "glaring hole" identified by Zakura developer Adam Tucker, particularly concerning swaps through services like NEAR Intents, which write shielded refund addresses to a public chain. Wallets using Zakura's open-source libraries, such as Vizor, are expected to integrate these one-time keys in the coming weeks.
