The U.S. President, speaking during "National Forest Products Week," reaffirmed a commitment to conserving forests and responsibly utilizing their resources to support families and strengthen American jobs and industry. The President stated that two executive orders signed last year, aimed at increasing domestic timber supply and reducing reliance on imports, have spurred over $500 million in new domestic industry investments and increased annual industry revenue by more than $5,600. Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service has sold over 3 billion board feet of American timber this year, marking the highest sales in nearly three decades, and achieved 116% of its annual reforestation target, the highest level in twenty-six years. The President also noted that the administration is cutting red tape, eliminating unnecessary environmental regulations for industries such as logging and paper, and has established the "America the Beautiful Council" to lead forest management and conservation efforts.
