United Airlines stated on Tuesday that it has lowered its full-year profit outlook for 2026 due to persistently rising fuel costs, though passenger bookings remain strong. The company anticipates adjusted earnings per share (EPS) for the fourth quarter to be between $0.50 and $1.50, significantly below Wall Street's expectation of $1.76. This would result in full-year adjusted EPS for 2026 not exceeding $7.22, down from its previous forecast of $9 to $11. United Airlines expects the average fuel price in the fourth quarter to be $4.80 per gallon, up from $3.90 in the third quarter. For the third quarter ended September 30, the company's net profit increased by 8.5% year-over-year to $1.03 billion, revenue grew by 17.4% to $17.88 billion, and passenger numbers increased by over 2%.
