Russia frees US citizen Stephen Hubbard, Putin says during talks with US envoy Witkoff
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has agreed to release American citizen Stephen Hubbard, who was jailed for allegedly fighting on behalf of Ukraine. Hubbard has been taken to Pulkovo Airport. Putin made the statement during talks with US envoy Steve Witkoff in St Petersburg. Hubbard, originally from Michigan, was sentenced to almost seven years in a penal colony in 2024 at the age of 72.
