According to Israeli media, the Israeli army detained U.S. Democratic congressional candidate Brad Lander, along with dozens of foreign and Israeli activists and Palestinian farmers participating in an olive harvest, in Husan (west of Bethlehem) in the West Bank. Among those detained were 45 foreign activists and 25 Israeli activists from the New York-based Jewish religious organization "T'ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights." While in detention, Lander told Israel's Haaretz newspaper: "Occupation is a crime under international law. Harvesting olives is not a crime under any law I know."
