Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Russia this week, striking key oil infrastructure and significantly reducing Russian diesel exports, CNBC reported. Tatiana Mitrova, an expert at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy, stated that Ukraine's drone attacks have reached a scale, scope, and effectiveness that has severely impacted Russia's diesel exports. Kpler data shows that Russian diesel exports fell to 141,000 barrels per day in September, a more than 75% decrease from 608,000 barrels per day in the same period last year.

Donald Trump, the US President, accused Ukraine's attacks of causing diesel prices to surge, which is harming the Republican Party's chances in the midterm elections. The current national average price for diesel in the US is $6.32 per gallon, nearly 75% higher than the same period last year. Donald Trump had previously announced an energy ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia on October 11, aimed at boosting Russian diesel exports to alleviate fuel price pressure, but the agreement is facing challenges due to Ukraine's attacks.
