Iraqi government says Sheeb border crossing with Iran was closed due to technical reasons, not political
Iraq’s Government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi stated that the closure of the Sheeb border crossing was a result of a lack of technical, technological, and developmental readiness, according to the official Iraqi News Agency (INA). This clarifies previous reports from yesterday that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi had ordered the indefinite closure of the crossing, with no reason provided at the time. The spokesperson added that other border crossings with Iran are experiencing smooth trade exchanges.
